Alistair's First Haircut & Siena's 4th Birthday!

Before
During

After

The best picture ever of the five Halls grandkids.

For her actual birthday she requested to eat at a "princess restaurant." I asked some friends for intrepretations and scrapbook friend Christina came up with going to the Mall of America and eating at the Rainforest Cafe. Every 30 minutes there was a "storm" and the gorillas beat their chests. Whoa! Birthday girl and Mommy.

Al and Daddy.

The American Carosel (she asked for it by name.)

The first time she rode rides at the MOA I got her a wristband and she road 27 rides in a row including Truckin' six times in a row.

Her birthday party was held at our house the Sunday after she turned four. Her is Mom and Siena.

Neighbor Nina and S.

Cousin Naomi and S.

Farm cousins dress up for the Princess Themed party.

Poor, poor, Alistair!

Favorite gift: princess camera from the Farm people.

I called people to lunch but they would not eat until I got a picture of all the kids dressed up as princesses and princes. The food was medival and quite good. Thanks Erik!

One consistant request was an ice cream cake, even though to my knowledge she's never eaten an ice cream cake before. A further clarification: a princess ice cream cake.

Feb. 2008

*S looked at my senior picture in my yearbook and said, “That’s Mommy. She’s wearing new hair.”
*I was playing with A, buzzing like a bee when S said, “Do that again and I’ll take your picture.” She used her imaginary camera to take a picture of me, then said, “oh, that was so cute.”
*S opens my car door for me and says, “There you go, hop in.”
*Quotes from Project Runway, “and only one can be the winner.” And “please leave the runway.”
*S tells me, “Mommy, you’re a good worker.”
*S tells me, “that nail got mangled” when her fingernail polish gets accidentally smudged off.
*Tells A, “it’s almost time for a nap, Honey.”

*We take A to Fantastic Sam’s where my MOMS Club friend Sonja cuts his hair for the first time. As with Siena’s first hair cut we take before, during, and after photos. As soon as I pulled out the camera, he said “cheese” which I’d never heard him say before. He said it about seven or so times that day.

Words:
Book
Hi
Mommy
Daddy

*A has taken to hitting me when I pick him up to take him somewhere when he wants to walk there.
*If I won’t let him crawl up the stairs, he’ll throw himself on the floor for a tantrum.
*A didn’t want to leave Mall of America so he got stiff as a board so we couldn’t get him into his stroller.
*A didn’t want to leave Babies R Us so he got stiff as a board so I couldn’t get him into his car seat.

March 2008

Siena’s self proclaimed favorites:
Place to go in a car: Jerry’s (grocery store where she gets her own small cart to push)
Place to go in a plane: Kazakhstan
Color: red
Movie: Shrek the Third
Person: Mama
Drink: water
Treat: peanut butter cups
Food: peanut butter cups
Snack: Goldfish
Fruit: apples, grapes, peanut butter cups

S gives us scripted lines from movies: “Prince Shrek? (Say, ‘Yes, Fiona.’)”

*A is obsessed with trying to find the squirrels outside on the trees. Says “squirrel” which is first recognized as a word by G&G Current.
*Picks up phone, shoe, whatever and holds it as a phone and says, “hi.” Calls these items "hi."
*All animals say “baaaa.”
*Loves to wear his sister’s shoes, especially the fancy ones.
*Says, “Dance?” to Grandma Carol and instead of dancing with him, she says “dance” back. He throws a fit on the floor.
*I put a little bowl of cereal in front of him with a spoon and he eats from it, neatly, like he’s done it his whole life.

A's Words:
baby
Whoa!
Oh oh!
Yeah! (with clap)
Calls me Mommy and everyone else (including Siena) Daddy
